The David Paton trophy is awarded annually to the angler who lands the first salmon of the new season.
Richard McHattie claimed this year’s honour after successfully landing a 7lb spring salmon on the 1st of March whilst fishing Grandhome Estate.
The fish fell to a slowly spun black and yellow Devon minnow and swam away strongly after a quick photo.

Richard was presented with the trophy last week along with a bottle of whisky.
